Why Do We Need Union Debate?
Companies like Wal-Mart are condemned by many because, it's not unionized. Though, various attempts were made to unionize it but it still remains free from union demands. Various report reveals that, only a mere 9% of our population works under union. Hence, we have to pay a lot more for products and services because of this ratio. So, should unions be allowed to exist?
Henry Ford and Sam Walton, some of the best businessmen of America decided that all workers should be paid enough to buy essential daily products and therefore, never felt the need to join any union. Hence, both were known for their dedication towards their work force and rewarded accordingly.
The reason behind their decision was that, if the workers aren't paid enough then they would not be interested in working and eventually would quit the firm. This would increase the cost for re-training. Companies like Wal-Mart think, why should we pay for the extra increase in the health insurance and other medical expenses. Because of this decision, Wal-Mart is saving billions of dollar every month as they are reducing the cost of prescription with run-away health care costs. Even the CEO of the company believe that, if the company is worth enough then no one can deny it.
However, many companies without thinking about the free-market components, go and join the Unions. Don't work that these same products were responsible for made Wal mart a great company even without union demands propping up collective protectionism.
