Recent health report indicates that many people across the globe are affected by acid reflux, yet they silently sit and suffer. There are many ways to cure a person suffering from acid reflux. However, before discuss about the ways, it's important to know its causes but before you can do this, what causes acid reflux. Though, causes for acid reflux vary from person to person but these are some of the most known causes:
- High acidity in diet
- Weak LES valve between the stomach and the oesophagus
- Abnormalities within the oesophagus
- Impaired stomach function
Any of these reasons can lead to acid reflux. Let us understand each of these points one by one.
First, the high acidity in the daily food intake. Generally, food products like caffeine and vinegar can result in high acidity in the body. Again, this condition can also be due to various movements after eating such as bending over, lifting heavy materials and also sleeping.
Second point, another factor that result in acid reflux in the body is the weakening of the LES valve between the stomach and the oesophagus. Such condition basically results from excessive smoking, drugs, as well as poor diet. Due to these factors the valve of the LES stop working and leak out acid and letting food in at the same time. Therefore, the food gets in but the acid has more of a chance of leaking out.
Third point, is the abnormalities within the oesophagus. Such conditions can result from two main reasons. It mostly happens within males. This condition is medically termed as adult-ringed oesophagus, where food items gets stuck within the throat. Oesophagus consist of multiple rings but under this problem the acid to be leaked from the stomach. Another factor that may result in abnormalities within the oesophagus is due to abnormal muscle actions within the oesophagus.
Finally, any abnormal functions within the stomach may result in acid reflux. If any muscles fail to function properly, which may lead to the stomach not being able to remove food or digest the food properly, may cause a back up of acid which in turn lead to acid reflux.
Hence, all these factors may result in acid reflux. But some of the common factors that contribute to this conditions are poor diet, smoking and excessive alcohol as well as being overweight. However, regular exercise, healthy and balanced lifestyle will help improve this condition.
