Classified under the category of equal employment opportunity, these laws aim to curb unfair discrimination against employees with respect to the aged, female employees and physically challenged people. The laws are:
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin in businesses that have 15 or more employees.
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act prohibits age discrimination against employees who are forty years old or older if the business has 20 or more employees.
- Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits employment discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities if the business has 15 or more employees.
- The Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA) prohibits wage discrimination between men and women in substantially equal jobs in any business.
