Marble tiles provide a luxurious and an elegant look to the floor of a house. But, these are most often used in bathrooms and kitchens. Opting for a marble flooring can be very expensive, therefore you would always want the floor to look new for as long as possible.

Despite of their high prices, marble tiles are the most preferred choice in flooring. Durability is one factor, which makes them most favorable. These tiles are very strong from outside, but very soft from inside.

Before buying a marble tile, one should try to get as much information about it as possible. You should know the things that could damage a marble time. Amongst all, water is the most common element that could destroy the look of your flooring. If water is spilled on the floor, you wipe it immediately. But if this is not done, than water could cause a stain in the middle of the tile or on several tiles. You should also keep in mind that juices with acid are hazardous to marble flooring. These acidic solutions not only cause stain, but eat the outer coating of the marble. Therefore, one should be careful with juice, when you have marble flooring in kitchen. If the juice spills by accident, make sure that you wipe it immediately.

Scraping of furniture on the floor can cause scratches on the marble tiles. Therefore, you should always have a protective covering on every piece of the furniture kept on marble. You should also avoid directly walking in from outdoors with sand and gravel on the bottom of your shoes. These can also cause scratches. And this is one reason, why marble flooring is not recommended for entryways.

Always clean the marble floor with a soft cloth or mop and a neutral cleaning solution. Do not use cleaners with acids and vinegar, as these will affect the finish of the tile. You can also seek the help of a professional floor cleaner.
