Let us talk about some of the facts associated with the origin if X-games.
It was in the year1993 when this famous sports channel ESPN came up with a new idea to arrange a meet of athletes from extreme sports. But that was just an idea. It was actually implemented after two years when they managed to organize this meet.
Now let us talk about the first X-games tournament. It was arranged in Rhode Island, and at Mount Snow, Vermont. The whole thing was quiet exciting. It was something that was happening for the very first time. The dates decided were from June 24 to July 1 in the year 1995, as I said two years after the idea was developed. So, that was the first time when ‘X Games’ initiated.
Talking about the previous times, X Games had only 9 different sports, but with the passage of time and with the increase in its popularity, it attracted 198,000 viewers. That is something to know about. Really interesting. As this tournament became very popular, ESPN made one more plan. They decided that it will be held every year. Since then, it is called X-games. Seeing the immense amount of popularity, ESPN declared Winter X Games Tournament as well. It was organized at the Snow Summit Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, California. The dates were from January 30 to February 2 in the year 1997. Since that time, the tournament has seen many ups and down. But during all this time, there was no single drop as far as the popularity was concerned. ESPN later came up with a lot of exciting and diverse events correlated with X Games. The X Trials are called ‘qualifying events’ for the tournament.
