One of the main reasons behind an increase in accidents in parking lots is the rise in the number of people and cars placed in close proximity to each other. Studies reveal that about 70% of all accidents happen due to the offending vehicle is going in reverse direction. Another major issue which has grown in the past few years is road rage. Here are some of the common made mistakes in parking lots:
Failure in Proper Checks
One of the basic reasons behind these accidents is the failure to do the proper shoulder checks. It can happen due many reasons like distraction inside or outside of the vehicle or simply failing to perform the proper checks. Hence, every driver should never move his vehicle in any direction unless he/she is completely sure it is safe to do so. In case, you're finding difficulty in seeing then either move your body so that you can or get out and look around, or simply ask someone to watch for you. Develop a habit of walking around the vehicle before you get in.
Impatience
Whenever you drive make sure to drive carefully and patiently. Like the traffic rule says 'sane driving is safe driving.' Driving rashly or in a hurry will get you nowhere. At times, driving in a hurry, we forget to pay attention to small things and tend to push our frustrations onto others. Such behavior increases your chances of an accident.
