Recently a research was conducted by a famous economist to figure out “Is High IQ Equal to High Math Marks.” The test was conducted on few students on various categories like logic, memory, sequence etc. The result from the test revealed that a person with high IQ need not score well in their math papers. Though, the high IQ student who participated in the test studied throughly they couldn't score well i their math papers. Following are  some of the reasons that lead to the conclusion:
  • As most of the students weren't aware of certain  math short cut or tips. Even the IQ test did not quiz these areas.
  • Some of the high IQ students couldn't apply  reverse thinking and had difficulties in applying equations.
  • Students also found it difficult to put all information and conditions while solving IQ papers.
  • Since, most of the students weren't given proper training or preparation before these test therefore, there was no  cause and result effect of teaching involved in these tests. Learning math involves both understanding as well as practice. Thus, if the students aren't interested in completing their procedural learning then their math marks will turn out to be low.
  • If the student's aren't interested in the teat and giving them just for the sake of their parents then it would definitely affect their results.
  • If students with high IQ haven't prepared well for their math papers then, the wouldn't be able to score high marks for their math paper.
  • If certain math problems aren't that interesting then some High IQ student skip those problems which indirectly affects their math score.
  • Another important factors which may affect high IQ students in scoring low marks in their math papers are  bad study habits or even bad living habits.
Therefore, we may conclude that not all high IQ students score high marks in math.
