The silhouette that you must have seen in the television commercial are often seen swinging to up-beat music. These people are usually listening to music through earphones on their iPods an more often than not, these earphones are distinctively white in color so that they can stand out of the black background. In fact, you must have noticed that the theme of the advertisements changes in accordance to the genre of music playing in the commercial.

A particular Television commercial actually showed the same silhouette theme stressing on its icon status. The advertisement showed a man, listening to music on his iPod, walking past a set of silhouette posters, which then came to life and begun dancing to the music that was being played on the iPod. The posters would then go back to being still when the pause button was pressed.

Most commercials for the iPod shuffle use a green background with contrasting black arrows moving in the background indicating the shuffle icons. The silhouettes generally dance on the top of these arrows as if they are moving around a floor while they listen to their iPod shuffles.

Immediately after the launch of the iPods' 5th generation, a commercial that featured  Eminem and Wynton Marsalis had a huge impact on the usual way of advertising. In the commercial, Eminem was sporting a white microphone whereas Marsalis was on the drums and held white drumsticks. The traditional silhouettes in the commercials were dancing while listening to the music on iPods.

In 2006, we had a different kind of iPod advertisement being telecasted. The commercial was around 30 seconds and featured an album art. This album art featured a city that was being constructed and destroyed turn by turn and then it flowed into an iPod nano. The theme of the advertisement was '1000 songs in your pocket'.

Another iPod commercial that brought forward an absolutely different type of advertising method was a 2006 advertisement by Bob Dylan. This particular advertisement had only one silhouette facet. The only visible figure is that of Bob Dylan and the other female dancer who is listening on her brightened iPod. All these commercials are meant to highlight the uniqueness of the iPod which are second to none.
