The myths and reality of drug tests

Systematic drug testing got its start in the 1980s when President Ronald Reagan issued Executive Order 12564. In doing so, he instituted mandatory drug-testing for all safety-sensitive executive-level and civil-service Federal employees. This law set a precedent for workplace drug-testing throughout the nation. And since then, many persons have been looking for ways to beat the tests. As a result, a number of myths and urban legends have emerged.
